The Ford Explorer is available with a lineup of powerful engines, and an Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive system to improve towing and handling, as well as tons of room for cargo space and passengers alike. The Explorer offers six trim levels including the Base, the XLT, the Limited, the ST, the King Ranch, and the range-topping Platinum trim level. The base engine is 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 that gets up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. For a more exciting drive, the ST trim offers a turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 that gets up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.

Technology and Features

Every 2021 Explorer comes with the SYNC® 3 infotainment system. It features an 8-inch touchscreen that includes crisp graphics and Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications. Smartphone integration is also standard, so you can stream music and make hands-free calls using Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

Whether you're listening to a podcast, playlist, or SiriusXM® Radio, you'll able to enjoy excellent sound quality with a 12-speaker B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen. At higher trim levels, you can upgrade this further to 14 speakers.

The Explorer has a maximum cargo capacity of 87.8 cubic feet when you fold down both the second and third rows. Behind the back seat alone, you get 18.2 cubic feet of space to stow your overnight bag, luggage, or groceries.

If you're looking to haul even more cargo, the Explorer is also available with a Trailer Tow Package. It includes a Class III trailer hitch receiver, a 7-/4-pin wiring harness, and BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage. Tow/Haul mode is also available to help you handle heavy loads. When properly equipped, the 2021 Ford Explorer can tow up to 5,600 pounds.
